Arano is a small town in the mountains, hidden by the forest that grows in and around it. The villagers there prefer to use magic more than technology, and the structures being made mostly of living trees attests to that. They are always hiding from the larger countries that would try to make them join them and pay taxes. A bit of nationality within the village does exist though and the thought of putting the village before oneself is commonly in use. They use magic by channeling the energy of any source around them. Some sources include other living things, the earth, the wind, or water, fire is thought to consume energy more than create it, though it is still used for practical reasons. Though these are not the only possible sources.

Every member is taught basic martial and magical abilities as they grow up in case the village would ever need to be defended, it also keeps a well trained militia at the ready at all times. Most of the defense efforts, however, are put into keeping the village completly covered in living trees. Most of the houses appear to be completly built of a living tree, some of which are. The villagers accomplish this through a great deal of time and magic.

The village is accepting of the use of technology, and encourages some use of the ISOU VR so the people attending can gain more knowlage of current technology in the world, both to be able to make it themselves, and to learn how to defend against it.
