RPing can either be very easy, or very difficult. It depends on the person. If you have a vast imagination and a good vocabulary, then you're set. If you have a bad imagination and poor vocabulary, then you're in trouble. Here are tutorials on the elements of roleplaying.
*Character Creation* This is the most crucial part of RPing.. The part that affects your entire RPing experience: your character. As you play, you will grow attached to your character, feel what he/she is feeling, know their intentions behind every move. You'll create a pattern as you play, such as, if you have a bad experience in a Vampyre Bar, then you usually won't go in a vampyre bar again. Making an original character is a fun thing to do, and i'll explain how.
When you create a character, you should be original. You shouldn't create a vampire god-moder that can kill any living being, and never be killed itself. You should create a vampire (if this is your taste) that has it's limits. For example, sure vampires are strong, but maybe they are weak against magic? There are many ways to make your character original.. Be creative!
*the Tablemanners of RPing* Generosity is a hard thing to come around these days, and a RP is no different. Finding someone that will be nice and calm in a tavern that you can have a nice cold mug of ale with and talk about your adventures with is about as rare as finding a golden needle in a haystack. You have to look for those nice people, and ignore all the meanies. But be sure to be nice yourself! *If you have an evil-aligned character, that is still no reason to just slaughter everyone. Play fair. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Glossary of RP slang*
ooc - out of character.
ic - In character.
noob - someone that expressed rude behavior, or arrogance.
newb - someone that is new to the game.
despie - someone that is desperate for a girlfriend/boyfriend and plays only for that purpouse.
mod - Moderate of the Forums
god moder - someone who pretends they are a god, spawn of a god, or have god-like powers.
Mary-Sue: a perfect female character, created in one's identical image, with nothing unique or even slightly interesting
Gary-Stu: a perfect male character, created in one's identical image, with nothing unique or even slightly interesting. ------------------------------------------------------------------------
Help me improve this! Drop by comments or if you'd like me to add things or words to the glossary.

Here's a couple terms that may not be quite exclusiveamong Rpers yet come in fairly often. These are as follows:
Mary-Sue: a perfect female character, created in one's identical image, with nothing unique or even slightly interesting
Gary-Stu: a perfect male character, created in one's identical image, with nothing unique or even slightly interesting.
I think that makes me sound incredibly rude. Am I being rude? o.0 Tell me if I am.

I don't find opinions rude unless they are racist. I have no problems with opinions, except for a racist opinion. You ma'm, are not racist. *Runs off to update the plot* O.o

Meh two cents: Powerplayer- roleplayer who takes control of other player's character, either through controlling their speech or actions. Literate- an experienced or talented roleplayer or writer. 1337 speaker- a person who substitutes letters for number and speaks with short words, 71k3 s0. generally frowned upon, the object of ridicule in most decent forums.

even though no one has posted here since my birthday i'll make a post.
one-liners- a post with only one line or a post that has no clear definition as to whether someone is talking or acting. frowned apon by anyone who is even slightly literate
asteriks- commonly used to separate action from spech. demeter doesnt like them. generally used as **

I know its not this way on all RP forums, but at least on some, when rping, if you want to show what your character is thinking, you put it in italics. That way it is easily recognisable as your characters thoughts. Sort of like putting what they say in quotes.
